Description

Raised by M Baltet, and named after M Guyot the renowned viticulturist (who developed the ‘Guyot’ methods of training vines), this is a reliable and heavy cropping variety similar (though inferior) to Williams Bon Chretien. The fruit is little grown these days but was once widely grown for the commercial market. Then flesh is creamy white sweet, juicy and melting with pleasant flavour. Will often produce some parthenocarpic fruit. This partially self-fertile dessert Pear is believed to have originated from Troyes, France in 1870
