Description

Sweet tender flesh with a pleasing flavour, and probably the earliest black cherry to ripen; the stone is extremely small; tree crops very heavily. Raised from a seedling of Early Purple Gean by Thomas River of Sawbridgeworth, this is an excellent cherry, being awarded a first class certificate from the RHS in 1872.
