Description

Thought to have arisen in the 1600s in the gardens of Castel Grafenstein in Germany, this variety is known throughout Northern Europe and America, and was introduced into England in the 1820s. The fruit are large, and an irregular oblong shape, with a light pinky orange flush, and a superb crisp flesh which is exceptionally juicy. This variety has proved to be very hardy (reputed to be Norway's most popular apple), and is an excellent early season choice for the North. This self-sterile dessert Apple is believed to have originated from Schleswig-Holstein, Germany in about 1650
