Description

From the 1600s right up until the start of the last century, this used to be the variety that marked the start of the apple season - can be picked as early as late June (hence a synonym of the ‘June Eating’ apple). Small green-yellow fruit which have a lovely crisp bite to them eaten straight from the tree. Worthy of a mention by Francis Bacon in 'essay on gardens'.
