Description

Nijisseiki or more correctly nijusseiki, (meaning ‘20th century’), is a classic round, light-skinned pear. Seedling introduced in Japan in 1898, this mid-season variety revolutionised the pear industry, making a new standard of flavour, with its crisp, juicy flesh and very little grittiness. Ripe when pale green skin is partly tinged with yellow. This self-sterile dessert Nashi Pear is believed to have originated from Chiba, Japan in 1898
