Description
One of the oldest varieties still grown, and presumed French in origin, this was first listed by the Brompton Park nursery in London in 1696. Grown in a sunny spot for the sugars to form fully, this variety can produce outstandingly well flavoured fruit - intense, rich, sweet-sharp and with a hint of acid drops, especially in areas where the season is long, and conditions mild.
