Quercus cerris Whip 125-150cm (B)

This fast growing deciduous tree is native to southern and central Europe, has grey-white bark which splits into plates, and is also known as the ‘Turkey Oak’. The timber of this tree is not as good quality as most oaks, but the tree is elegant and quick-growing, enhancing its value as an ornamental. The acorns are notable in that they have big ‘wooly’ cups which measure up to 2.5cms (1”) in length.
