Description

A very old variety of cooking or cider apple. Probably raised by Rev. Tom Putt of Trent, Somerset in the late 1700s (or by his uncle - also Tom Putt, of Honiton, Devon, who brought it to Trent). Unusual irregular shaped fruit. Formerly used as cider apple. Vigorous and spreading trees that spur freely, and are described as having ‘ remarkable powers of rejuvenation even in old age’.This self-sterile dual-purpose Apple is believed to have originated from Dorset, UK in 1780
