Description

Raised by Thomas Knight in Ludlow, Shropshire in 1815, and was named after having fruited after the date of the battle of Waterloo. This is an excellent cherry with thin skin that is dark purple becoming almost black when ripe. The flesh is clear red tender and juicy with a rich and delicious flavour. The tree is a free grower and a decent bearer, and succeeds well against a wall or as freestanding.
