Description
Maple-like tree with huge, deeply lobed, glossy mid-green leaves. The young shoots often have curious corky wings to them. In the autumn the leaves turn an amazing range of yellows and oranges. Makes a superb specimen or street tree, probably the most reliable tree for autumn foliage colour. Originally from open woodland in eastern N. America, as well as parts of Mexico and Guatemala, it was introduced into the UK in the 1600's and has long been valued as a fine parkland tree.
