Myrica gale

Description

Sweet Gale, Bog Myrtle. An unusual dwarf shrub for a damp area of the garden with highly aromatic dark blue-green leaves. Yellow catkins are produced in the summer, and followed by spherical yellow fruit. Used here in Yorkshire in place of hops to produce 'Gale Beer', said to be excellent for quenching a thirst! Height 1.2m (4ft).
