Description
The English Oak - arguably the most famous and best loved of British native trees. Forms a large spreading tree, 20-40 metres tall at maturity, with the classic deeply lobed mid-green leaves. Often used as a symbol of strength, as the wood is one of the hardest and most durable timbers on the planet. Produces acorns in autumn, but you will have to wait - oaks need to be at least 40 years old before they will produce fruit!
