Rhus

Wonderfully ornamental shrubs grown for their superb autumn colour. They do tend to sucker so are unsuitable for planting as a centre piece in the lawn, but otherwise they make good border shrubs. They do best in full sun but will take partial shade. To keep them down it's best to prune the stems to 30cm (1ft) off the ground every February.
