Acer davidii

Description

Named after the French missionary (Pere David) who discovered this tree in its native China, this is a handsome tree with a narrow upright profile, growing to 12-15m (35-50ft) in maturity. The bark on the trunk is green streaked with white, a characteristic of members of the ‘Snake Bark Maple’ family. Clusters of pale yellow flowers are borne in spring, and the mid green leaves turn a showy orange to yellow in autumn.
