Description
Raised at Copt Hewick, near Ripon in North Yorkshire in the 1990s. We were given the privilege of introducing this to our range of stock, being the only nursery to grow this variety. The tree crops reliably, and bears large attractive yellow-green fruit that have a faint pink blush, and which make an excellent mid/late season cooker.
"Found at Copt Hewick, near Ripon in Yorkshire, Grandpa Buxton is a recent addition to apples of Yorkshire origin; introduced in 1990s by R. V Roger, long-established nurserymen in Pickering, Yorkshire who keep a large catalogue of northern and Yorkshire apples. Grandpa Buxton is a large, smooth-skinned cooker, of almost uniform milk yellow-green, with some faint pink blush on the shoulders." © Lin Hawthorne - 'The Northern Pomona'.
