Description
Originally know under it's Dutch name of Betula utilis jaquemontii 'Dorenbos', but now rechristened as 'Snow Queen' - but whatever you choose to call it, it remains one of the very best garden trees for the UK. Within 3 or 4 years the stems will shed their orange bark to reveal bright white stems underneath, a real feature for any winter garden. The canopy forms into a broad candle shape, up to 5m wide and 10m tall, but remains light and airy and doesn't cast dense shade. Leaves turn a pure butter yellow in autumn.
