Chilean Hard Fern. Native to Chile, where it has the common name of Costilla de vaca ("Cow's Rib") - this is a striking evergreen fern with bold, leathery fronds which lightly undulate at the edges. A dramatic large fern for a cool damp site, fully evergreen in a sheltered sites. In colder winters or more exposed positions, the fronds will blacken and die in winter, just cut back in early Spring.
