Description

An unusual fig variety, and with quite a complicated back story. The original Afghan fig was thought to be a separate species, Ficus afghanistanica, which produces large crops of small fruit, and was very drought-tolerant. Plants offered for sale today seem to be hybrids with the common fig, Ficus carica, and as such are not as drought-tolerant but produce larger fruit. Our plants produce delicous medium-sized purple brown fruit in abundance - and it seems are more cold-hardy than most.
