A familiar sight in grass and 'Prairie' planting schemes - Nassella (or Stipa) tenuissima deciduous grass to 60cm, forming a compact upright tuft of tightly in-rolled leaves, and arching, feathery flowering panicles in summer which start off greenish-white in colour, but fade to a creamy-buff colour in autumn.
