Description

(French or Common Lilac). Often considered the finest of the species, this species is native to the Balkans and south-eastern Europe. The blue-mauve flowers which appear in early May have an unequalled perfume – strong and sweet, but not overpowering. Will tolerate slightly damper conditions than its Chinese relatives. Height: up to 5m (15ft).
