Description

The Black Lime is a hybrid between Tilia cordata and Tilia platyphyllos, and is a broadly columnar tree bearing dark green rounded ovate leaves that have paler undersides. Planted in Northern Europe for shade and ornament, it is more commonly found than either parent. Grows to 20-25m (80ft), but because of its near horizontal branch growth is also very suitable for pleaching.
