Description
This well known commercial variety is believed to have been raised from a pip of the Yorkshire variety Ribston Pippin in 1825 by Mr Richard Cox, a retired brewer of Colnbrook Lawn near Slough. The apple is flushed brownish red and russet. A demanding apple to grow and in the North can only produce a useful crop if grown as a trained tree on a warm, sunny wall.
