Description
Introduced by the Yorkshire man James Backhouse in the late 19th C, this variety has the most lovely deep purple-red funnel-shaped flowers on arching stems that rise to over 1m. Look super when teamed with ornamental grasses or in a gravel garden as well as the obvious area beside a pond. If you choose the latter area - make sure it is well-drained though!
