Description

This variety was listed in an English nursery catalogue of 1783 so obviously around at least that long. Probably the largest fruiting variety, they ripen in October, and the flattened-shaped fruit - which can be as much as 7cm in diameter - is greyish green until ripe when they change brown. The flesh is brown with a pleasant taste, and is excellent for jams. The tree is vigorous and productive, and a heavy bearer and can start to produce as a young plant.
