<p>We've grown a range of nut trees here in the Vale of Pickering for over 80 years. The hazels, cobnuts and filberts were a favourite of Anthony Roger, son of R.V. Roger, both as plants to propagate and to eat. We use traditional methods to raise new plants, all tended here in our fields until they are ready to be lifted as bare root plants during the winter months for sale as bare root plants.</p>
<p>A nuttery, or plat as it is called in the south of the UK, is a wonderful addition to any garden. It's the nut equivalent of an orchard, and would generally consist of cobnuts and filberts. By regular pruning, you can keep the plants under control whilst still being prodcutive and have the added bonus of a fresh supply of hazel rods to use as plant supports.</p>
<p>If you have the space almonds, walnuts and sweet chestnuts make superb feature trees, although you may need a little patience before they first start to fruit.</p>
