Intense sweet, rich, spicy flavour; flesh is white, melting and juicy; equal or superior to Beurre d'Anjou in dessert quality; growth is moderately vigorous and crops are reasonably heavy; an excellent and desirable pear. Originated as Fert ilia Delbard in the mid 19th C, but didn’t make its appearance in the UK until 2004 when it was renamed Invincible by FP Matthews nursery. A hardy and reliable variety that is self-fertile.This self-fertile dessert Pear is believed to have originated from Auvergne, France in 1864
