Description
Goes by the unattractive names of the Stinking Iris, Roast-Beef Plant, and Gladdon - this is actually a striking perennial that is perfect for shady spots underneath trees where other plants might struggle. An AGM winner, its architectural evergreen foliage and dull purple flowers are interesting, but it really comes into its own in autumn when its large seedpods split open to reveal rows of orange-red seeds that remain well into winter.
