Kiwi Fruit - Ken's Red

£15.00
Type:
Female

Description

Despite the name - this is a female variety. Bred in New Zealand by crossing two species of hardy kiwi (A. arguta cordifolia nd A. melanandra), the result is an absolute cracker of a hardy kiwi, producing delicious smooth purple-red fruit. It flowers later than most, and is a very prolific. It may however need to be thinned to encourage a good fruit size or they may be small. This variety does need a pollinating partner to produce fruit, so grow with a male variety nearby and you'll be guaranteed bumper crops of super sweet fruit. A vine-like climber, which will happily scramble along fences or walls, or through obelisks and pergolas.
