Description
This is the one of the most popular variety of damson for garden use, and named after the Merryweather nursery in Southwell. The growth is vigorous and spreading, and both abundant and precocious to fruit, as well as being tolerant of colder, wetter areas. It bears heavy crops of large round blue-black fruit which are acidic but juicy, and retaining the classic damson flavour. Makes first class jams and chutneys. This self-fertile culinary Damson is believed to have originated from Nottinghamshire, UK in 1907
