Description

The oldest plum or gage still in cultivation and still the best flavoured gage of all, and few can match it. Originally from Armenia, this variety made its way here via Italy, and France. Some stones - thought to be Greengage stones - were recovered from the Mary Rose which sank in 1543, so it is probable that it was being grown in England by this date. The round green fruits are tender and absolutely delicious. The only downside is that cropping can be irregular - but a fruit this good is worth the wait!
