Description

A cross between Conference (English) and Doyenne de Comice (French) raised by Dr. Alston at East Malling in 1977, and named in honour of the supersonic airliner that was also an Anglo-French collaboration. Concord has already met with widespread acclaim - Its heavy crops of pale yellow russeted fruit have a lovely sweet buttery flavour that melts in the mouth. It makes a compact tree that has resistance to scab and canker, and so is excellent for the smaller garden, and one of the best choices of pear for growing as a cordon.
