Description

In France, this variety is now conserved and celebrated as one of the most important old regional varieties of pear. It flowers early, so can be caught out by late frosts. The fruit is large, ripening to a pale gold finely russeted with crisp yet melting sweet juicy flesh although the skin is somewhat tough! The fruit is believed to pick up flavour from storage very easily - and was sometimes stored on bedding that has been perfumed with elderflowers or roses to take advantage of that habit.
