Huge clusters of small violet blue flowers, that are streaked and flecked white, fade to mauve and grey as they age. Good disease resistance. Raised by Johann Christoph Schmidt (Germany) 1909 from a cross between Turner’s Crimson Rambler x Erinnerung an Brod.Perhaps the best know and most widely-grown of all the purple flowered ramblers, Veilchenblau can tolerate a shady position or an east-facing wall.
