The classic ‘Cricket Bat willow’ has upright branches and blue-green leaves. Native to Europe (including Britain) and northern Asia, this fast-growing spreading tree grows wild on riversides, attaining an eventual height of up to 25m (80ft). Yellow-green male and female catkins appear in spring with the leaves.
