DescriptionThe intense colours we associate with the sun setting are due to a phenomenon called 'scattering', where the shorter-wavelength blue and violet lights are scattered by air molecules and become invisible to the human eye, so all we can see are the longer wavelength yellows, oranges and reds. Fiery orange tulips contrasting with small, multiheaded yellow daffodils, with the occasional flash of pure white.
