The 'Drooping' or 'Pendulous' sedge is a striking evergreen perennial that forms large, dense clumps of broad grass-like leaves, and long, slender, loose-hanging flower spikes. It can be an indicator of ancient woodlands, and the seeds can be either be toasted and added to breads or salads, or ground into flour. The leaves can be dried and twisted into rope or woven into matting, or pounded and used as insulation in clothing.
