Description
Kiwi Fruit - Issai
£15.75
Hardy Kiwi. Probably the variety to go for if you are short on space, live in a cold exposed site or want to try growing kiwis for the first time. Hardy kiwis (Actinidia arguta) are actually a separate species to the traditional kiwi fruit you find in a supermarket (Actinidia deliciosa), and the fruit they produce is smaller and smooth rather than hairy. It's just as delicious, and they are much hardier than the traditional varieties. 'issai' is also quite compact in growth - it will climb up about 3m or so, but can be kept smaller through pruning. Self-fertile, and also works as a pollinating partner for Kiwi 'Ken's Red'.
