In the early 20th century it was grown and marketed as a dessert fruit, with Morgan Sweets being shipped out to the mining towns of South Wales, where it is said to remain a popular variety. The trees are vigorous, giving good and regular crops of sweet and juicy apples. This self-sterile Apple is believed to have originated from Somerset, UK in about 1850
