Description
Raised in Belgium in the early nineteenth century and introduced into England in 1818. A great late pear which sets good crops of small, yellow-green fruit with a sweet juicy flavour. Compact growth so recommended for the smaller garden. Fruit tend to be small, so a good thinning in July will help improve fruit size. Widely regarded as one of the best winter pears, it does nevertheless require to be grown against a wall to achieve its optimum (or under glass in Scotland). For help with choosing the correct rootstock for your needs, please click here A Guide to Rootstocks
