Description
Cherry plums or 'Mirabelles' are small round plums mostly red or yellow which make for wonderful jams or preserves, but are also sweet enough to eat fresh when fully ripe. Mirabelle de Nancy is said to have come from the far east to France in the 15th C, although its current name is from the 18th C in Nancy, France. It forms a compact, dense bush (ideal for hedges and windbreaks), and is a most abundant bearer. The fruit is yellow, quite small and round, flesh does not cling to the stone.
