Trees
The UK is relaitvely poor in terms of number of true native species - definitions vary, but there are less than 40 species which manage to colonise here in the short period (geologically speaking!) between the end of the last Ice Age around 12,000 years ago, and Britain separating from continental Europe only 4,000 years later.
All the other trees that we know and love have been introduced by humans since then, whether that be the elm brought over by the Romans, to the species of Sorbus collected in China by the Victorian plant hunters.
We have been growing ornamental trees here in the Vale of Pickering since the early 1920's. We hope within our wide range that we offer a good choice for all situations, be it a small flowering tree for a suburban back garden, or large trees for planting in parkland.
