Description

Raised in 1951 at the Jork Fruit Research Station nr Hamburg, and introduced in 1967, this is a wonderful late season dual-purpose apple. Flushed dark red, the very atrractive fruit have a sweet crisp flesh with a nice balance of acidity. Lovely eaten off the tree with cheese, they can also be cooked if the recipe calls fro an apple that keeps it shape. Makes a fantastic apple cake or tarte tatin. Widely planted and much-loved across Northern Europe, this should be more popular in the UK - the flavour is great, and the fruit stores until the following Spring.
