Description
From the 1600s right up until the start of the last century, this used to be the variety that marked the start of the apple season - can be picked as early as late June (hence a synonym of the June Eating apple). Small green-yellow fruit which have a lovely crisp bite to them eaten straight from the tree. Worthy of a mention by Francis Bacon in 'essay on gardens'. A fine apple, thought to originate in Yorkshire, pre 1600.For help with choosing the correct rootstock for your needs, please click here A Guide to Rootstocks
