Prunus lusitanica

Description

(Portuguese Laurel). A superb evergreen shrub with really dark green, glossy leaves. The stems are a rich red colour, particularly striking in winter. Small white flowers, held in upright clusters are produced in early summer. They are slightly fragrant. This is great backdrop shrub and grows just about anywhere. Height 4m (12ft), but slow growing.
